Visiting MNC

Paul Bodnar, reptile and amphibian expert, and his “friend” visit the Nature Center

Location

We are located at:

929 E. Mennonite Rd.
Aurora, OH 44202

just east of Sunny Lake Park (an Aurora city park) and 1.8 miles east of State Rt. 43.  See map.

Parking

  • The overflow lot is near the entrance to the Center on Mennonite Rd. and is about a 10 minute walk to the Center on a gravel driveway.
  • The large,  General Parking lot  is best for most visitors.  It requires a short walk on a gravel driveway or, on a grass/boardwalk pond-side path.
  • For the “not so nimble” there is a small lot close to the building.
  • We ask that only visitors with disabilities use the 3 handicapped specified spaces nearest the building.

Outside lighting is limited to the area around the actual Center, so for night events/programs consider bringing a flashlight.

Facilities

The hiking trails and pond are open year round, every day – sunup to sundown.  Aurora residents may fish in the pond (catch-and-release only) with proper State of Ohio licensure.  No swimming!  After dark access is only allowed for scheduled events.

Due to limited volunteer staffing, the center and barn are open only for events.

The fire pit, as well as the picnic grill,  may only be used in connection with an authorized event.

Small groups (six and under) are welcome to enjoy the picnic pavilion unless it is being used for a scheduled event.  For larger groups, please contact Kim.

General considerations

No alcohol on the premise at anytime.

We love dogs, but please clean-up after your pooch on the grassy areas and keep him/her on a leash at all times.

Please treat all the facilities and grounds gently.

Hope to see you soon!
